Music Video Research

I feel that this video is a great example for a successful although quite unconventional music video. The video itself does not show a band playing or anything that seems linked to the song, but instead presents a short film involving a man lost at sea mysteriously being bombarded with rocks. Although this seems completely irrelevant to the song and its lyrics, when thoroughly examined it is evident that the actions seen within the video metaphorically represent the lyrics sung by the band.

The beginning of the video draws the audience in because of the actor being in such a strange scenario and as the music intensify's, so does the video which works effectively to help it flow well and ultimately entertain its audience.

This video again does not include the band within it performing or even appearing, although it does however include young children mimicking the lyrics. The plot to this video is very simple and just shows a group of school children jogging during a P.E lesson, despite this, it is very unique and just like Scissor it effectively draws the audience in.

The video also includes a small sense of humor such as the over dramatic flares set off by the childrens bodily movements which are choreographed to flow with the music, as well as the stereotypical angry P.E teacher.

Over all I believe these two music videos became so successful because they are so unique and different to what is already out there. This is something that we will need to take in to account when making our own.
